When The Fever Broke...

It’s a place from my dreams
I’ve been here before
Can you tell me what is left?
Just images we paint and sketch
The most beautiful of the chosen few
We held each other the whole night through
We beamed with pride as our garden grew
But when the fever broke... I knew
Obstructed vision,
A sense of place and time
For such a small price
We bought ourselves peace of mind
Love, to be sure, is nothing much to lose
But the young will swear it is
That’s their life to choose
God knows we were young
But these things change
I tried to join the dance
But you walked away

All I’ve ever really wanted
Is a perfect place to hide
An analogous existence
Unseen by the cameras eye
No confrontation, no contamination, no admittance without invite
An androids dream of self defence
Made organic through artificial intelligence
But now every single second
I do a thousand things
These accumulated encrypted signals augment my reality
The future may be overcrowded
But I’m counting down the days
I’ve got wisdom beyond my years, the esteem of my peers
And I’ve got the stats to prove it
There’s safety in numbers
The future’s in crowds
Is there a better way? Don’t we know by now?
All I ever wanted was to know what counts
And look at what I’ve found?
